Inside, the cottage is light, bright and presented with great attention to detail. The welcoming open-plan living area achieves the perfect balance of comfort and sophistication. There is cosy fire-side seating for the cooler months and floor to ceiling windows with a sliding door opening on to the terrace for sunny days.
Sumptuous feather and down pillows and duvets, Egyptian cotton bed linen, White Company towels and luxurious toiletries, plus a generous welcome hamper of local goodies on arrival, provide the finishing touches.
The bedrooms, all light, bright and immaculately-presented, boast TVs with Freeview, ample storage, and zip-and-link king-size beds that can be configured as twin beds if preferred. They have top quality mattresses, sumptuous feather and down pillows and duvets, and crisp Egyptian cotton bed linen.
The bathrooms are pristine, with a power shower in one and a traditional tub for a good soak in the other. White Company towels and luxurious toiletries are provided.
This features an enticing large corner sofa, comfortable chairs, eye-catching original artwork from local artists, and a captivating view from floor-to-ceiling windows over the waterfalls and burn. There is a clear view wood-burning stove, 43″ smart TV with Netflix and Prime Video apps (own account needed), digital radio, Bluetooth speaker and carefully chosen books and games.
The open-plan kitchen area includes a single oven, four-ring hob, microwave, two under-counter refrigerators, and a dishwasher. There is a washer-dryer and a small freezer in the hall cupboard.
Seating four, the dining area overlooks the river. Full length glass sliding doors open out on to an enclosed terrace.

Outside and parking
Outside, there is an immaculate gravel and grass courtyard to the front and a pretty terrace to the rear; which is a south-facing sun trap with a table, chairs and a bench to enjoy the fabulous views across the waterfalls of the Brunton burn to grass fields, the lake and to Beadnell Bay beyond. There is ample private parking to the side of the cottage.
We are very sorry, but no dogs are allowed at any time in Mill Race.
Stable Cottage (sleeps 6) can take 2 dogs and has an enclosed garden and an excellent warm, spacious boot room.
