Directions
- The address and postcode is Brunton House & Cottages, near Christon Bank, Alnwick, Northumberland, NE66 3HQ.
- Whether travelling from the north or the south, exit the A1 at Charlton Mires, five miles north of Alnwick, and take the B6347 towards Christon Bank and Seahouses.
- After two miles, there is a junction. Keep left, following the sign to Doxford and Chathill.
- Drive down this straight road for one mile, then turn right at the T-junction signed to Christon Bank and Newton-by-the-Sea
- After another half mile, you will reach a crossroads. Go straight over, signed to Brunton. The road will pass under a railway bridge.
- As you drive into Brunton, which comprises a farm and small hamlet, you will pass resident cottages on your right.
- The road then bends sharply right with further resident cottages on the left.
- On the left, before the large gravel courtyard, is the main parking area.
- Park here for Brunton Granary, Brunton Lake, Garden Cottage, Long Byre and Swallow Dean. Plus EV charging (available from beginning August 2023) and overflow parking.
- The entrance to Garden Cottage is at the top of the parking area; Brunton Granary and Brunton Lake are accessed, by foot only, by walking left at the bottom of the car park.
- The entrances to Long Byre and Swallow Dean face into the main gravel courtyard, opposite Brunton Burn and Mill Race.
- Separate parking for Brunton Burn and Mill Race is on the left, after the courtyard and opposite the Blacksmith’s Shop/ before you reach the bridge.
- There are two bays for unloading luggage at the top of the gravel courtyard. Please do not use these for long-term or overnight parking, and do not drive onto the gravel itself.
- For Brunton House and Stable Cottage, continue along the hamlet tarmac road and over the bridge.
- Stable Cottage is accessed via the first right-hand turn after the bridge and the front drive for Brunton House is next right.
