Our commitment to you:
We’re concentrating on ensuring that you (and our clean team) are as safe and risk free as possible during your stay.
Brunton House and Cottages is a member of the Professional Association of Self-Caterers who have collaborated with several other national associations, including UKHospitality, to develop a strict cleaning protocol for self-catering businesses throughout the UK.
The guidelines for England have now been published in full and can be viewed here COVID 19 Secure Guidelines.
✔ In line with the agreed guidelines we have conducted a detailed Risk Assessment to ensure the safety of our guests and staff.
✔ We will continually review our Risk Assessment to take into account any changes in guidelines or legislation.
✔ A copy of our current Risk Assessment is available on request.
✔ We have completed training in Covid-19 Holiday Let Cleaning Protocols.
✔ Changeovers, completed to our usual exceptional standards, fully in line with current Government Guidelines. We’re taking some extra steps including sanitising soft furnishings.
✔ We’re paying particular attention to high touch areas, thoroughly disinfecting after our standard clean.
✔ Where appropriate we are using disinfectants that comply with EN 14476 from DuoMax products .
✔ Bed linen is washed using healthcare standard products by our offsite laundry. Grannie Annie is washing everything else, including our fluffy white towels, at higher than usual temperatures.
✔ We have removed bedspreads, throws and cushions from bedrooms – our crisp Egyptian cotton bedding looks just as stunning naked.
✔ We provide suitable cleaning products for use during your stay. Please do not bring any household bleach or other strong chemicals with you. These will stop our sewage treatment plant operating effectively.
❌ We love meeting you, but for the foreseeable we’re going to remain at the end of the phone unless it’s an emergency.
✔ We will send full access details at least 1 week before you are due to arrive, so you can rest assured you will only have direct contact with members of your guest party.
✔ If you need anything during your stay we are just a phone call away.
We need you to ensure the following things happen please:

✔ If someone in your party develops Covid-19 symptoms during your stay they must immediately get tested by booking at Get a free NHS coronavirus test.
The result must be shown to us. If positive, everyone within the party must leave immediately. If that is not possible and you have to self-isolate here, you will be liable for the full cost of any bookings cancelled as a result.
✔ Follow these three simple actions to keep on protecting each other:
- HANDS – wash your hands regularly and for 20 seconds.
- FACE – wear a face covering in indoor settings where social distancing may be difficult and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet.
- SPACE – stay 2 metres apart from people you do not live with where possible, or 1 metre with extra precautions in place.
✔ Ensure that your party is not in breach of social contact restrictions as set out in law
✔ Strip duvet covers, sheets and pillow cases from your beds and place these outside bedrooms in the cloth laundry bags left for you.
✔ Put towels and makeup remover cloths in blue Ikea bags provided.
✔ Return any furniture moved (inside and garden) to where it was found on arrival.
✔ Remove all waste to outside bins – please ensure that nothing is left indoors paying particular attention to tissues, wipes, sanitary items and dirty nappies.
✔ Weather permitting, open all windows.
✔ Run the dishwasher at 60 degrees with all crockery, cutlery, glasses and utensils that will fit. Don’t open or empty the dishwasher at the end of the cycle – we need the completed state of the cycle to be evident.
